Business Mathematics Least-Mastered Competencies In Senior High School: Basis For Crafting Contextualized Learning Materials

This study addressed consistently low summative assessment scores in Business Mathematics at Solano High School by identifying the Least-Mastered Competencies (LMCs) among Grade 11 ABM learners. The primary objective was to establish a data-driven basis for crafting Contextualized Learning Materials (CLMs). It also investigated the relationship between the LMCs and the learners' demographic profile. A descriptive-correlational research design was employed, utilizing the total population of 92 students. Data were collected via a demographic survey and a validated 60-item multiple-choice test (third-quarter examination). The study found that learners achieved an overall 58% Average Mastery level, falling significantly below the expected 75% standard. Ten LMCs were identified, spanning fundamental operations (fractions, decimals, percent) and core applied business concepts. The low mastery level indicates an urgent need for subject-specific intervention to bridge the gap in both foundational skills and application proficiency.
