Abstract
This study examined how participatory leadership empowers teachers and enhances their professional development. It focuses particularly on teachers' experiences of decision-making participation, professional autonomy, collaboration, job satisfaction, ownership, and opportunities for continuous learning. The study proposes a qualitative research design to capture rich descriptions of teachers' perceptions and experiences. The study used purposive sampling to select educators with varied teaching backgrounds, disciplines, and experience levels. The study indicates that participatory leadership can create conditions that encourage teachers to become more engaged in school decision-making and professional learning. Key areas of influence include increased professional ownership, collaboration, autonomy, confidence, job satisfaction, and willingness to adopt innovative teaching practices. However, meaningful participation requires more than simply inviting teachers to meetings. It requires leaders to create structures in which teachers' ideas are genuinely considered, communicated, implemented, and evaluated. The study concludes that participatory leadership can strengthen teacher empowerment and professional development when supported by trust, communication, shared accountability, adequate resources, and an inclusive organizational culture.
