Abstract

This study aimed to determine the level of parental involvement in the academic achievement of Grade Four pupils during the New Normal in a public elementary school in Taguig City as a basis for an action plan. Using a descriptive-survey research design, the study involved 200 parents of Grade Four online learners selected from a population of 412 parents. The researcher gathered data through a survey questionnaire and document analysis of pupils’ general averages for School Year 2020–2021. The findings revealed that parents were highly involved in their children’s education through academic and non-academic support, personal initiatives, and participation in blended or online classes. Most pupils obtained general averages in the 80–89 range, and all met the academic requirements. The study also found that parental involvement varied by parental characteristics, particularly educational attainment, monthly family income, and employment status. Furthermore, parents’ personal initiatives were significantly related to pupils’ academic achievement, while the other dimensions of parental involvement were not. Based on these findings, the study developed an action plan to strengthen parental involvement and promote better academic outcomes among Grade Four pupils.
