Abstract
This qualitative research study explored the strategies, practices, and challenges involved in achieving efficiency and quality in high-volume garment manufacturing. Employing a qualitative research design with documentary analysis as the primary methodology, the study examined production manuals, standard operating procedures, internal reports, and industry case studies to gain insights into operational techniques. Findings revealed that garment manufacturers employ a variety of efficiency-enhancing strategies, including line balancing, modular production systems, lean manufacturing principles, advanced machinery, skill specialization, production planning, and continuous improvement initiatives, all aimed at minimizing idle time, reducing errors, and optimizing workflow. Consistent product quality was maintained through standardized operating procedures, multi-stage quality checks, workforce training, open communication, and the integration of technology to reduce human error. The research also identified key challenges in balancing efficiency and quality, such as time pressures, workforce skill disparities, equipment limitations, and inconsistent material quality, while highlighting best practices, including lean production, clear SOPs, continuous training, technological integration, and effective interdepartmental coordination. Overall, the study emphasizes that operational excellence in garment mass production relies on a strategic combination of human expertise, systematic processes, technological adoption, and a culture of continuous improvement. The findings underscore the importance of equipping production teams with both technical skills and process knowledge to meet high production targets without compromising quality. This research contributes to the body of knowledge on industrial garment production and provides actionable recommendations for managers, practitioners, and educators to enhance productivity, maintain consistent quality, and foster sustainable operational improvements in mass production environments.
