Abstract

This study presented the development of a web-based One Touch, One Record: A Smart Biometric Attendance System for Academic Institutions for Aldersgate College Inc., aimed at enhancing the management of student attendance records during school events. The existing manual attendance system faced several challenges, including time-consuming processes, inaccurate record-keeping, data redundancy, and the risk of lost or misplaced records. These limitations often delayed attendance monitoring and made it difficult to generate accurate reports. Using the Incremental Model methodology, the researcher adopted a user-centered design approach. Feedback was gathered through interviews and questionnaires to ensure that the One Touch, One Record: A Smart Biometric Attendance for Academic Institutions effectively addressed user needs. The system offered important functionalities, including biometric fingerprint authentication for accurate attendance recording, attendance history documentation, real-time attendance monitoring, and automated report generation. These features enable administrators to efficiently manage and track student participation during school events while minimizing errors associated with manual attendance systems. The evaluation of One Touch, One Record: A Smart Biometric Attendance for Academic Institutions against ISO 25010 software quality standards resulted in positive feedback from beneficiaries, IT, and non-IT respondents, indicating high satisfaction levels across functional suitability, reliability, security, maintainability, and usability. The findings showed that One Touch, One Record: A Smart Biometric Attendance System for Academic Institutions significantly optimized student attendance records, providing a secure, accessible platform that promotes student well-being and efficient attendance recording during school events.
