Abstract
This study examined the perceived employability skills for entry-level positions among Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management (BSHM) graduates of Aldersgate College, Inc. from academic years 2023 to 2025. Grounded in Human Capital Theory and the CareerEDGE Model of Employability, the research assessed how graduates evaluate their competence in soft and hard skills applied in the industry and developed through college preparation. The study employed a descriptive quantitative research design supported by qualitative responses. A total of 42 BSHM graduates participated as respondents. Data were collected through a validated, researcher-made questionnaire and analyzed using frequency counts, percentages, weighted means, standard deviations, and analysis of variance (ANOVA), with thematic analysis applied to the qualitative responses. Findings revealed that the graduates possessed a Very High level of competence in soft skills and a High level of competence in hard skills necessary for entry-level hospitality positions. Respondents demonstrated strong competencies in teamwork, customer service, professionalism, culinary operations, food and beverage services, and housekeeping operations. Results also showed no significant difference in graduates’ perceived employability skills when grouped by employment status. Qualitative findings highlighted strengths of the BSHM curriculum, including hands-on learning, effective practicum experiences, and comprehensive hospitality training. However, the study also identified areas for improvement in communication skills, technological competencies, industry exposure, and opportunities for NC II certifications and practical training. The study concluded that the BSHM program of Aldersgate College, Inc. effectively develops the employability skills necessary for hospitality work through practical and experiential learning. Nevertheless, continuous curriculum enhancement and stronger industry alignment are necessary to further improve graduates’ employability and competitiveness in the hospitality industry.
