Abstract
This study examined the relationship between the workplace environment and job satisfaction among nurses and midwives in a public hospital. It assessed the workplace environment and job satisfaction, examined their relationship, identified differences by demographic characteristics, and proposed an intervention program. Using a quantitative descriptive-correlational design, data were collected from 239 registered nurses and midwives through stratified random sampling using a validated questionnaire. Data were analyzed using frequency, percentage, weighted mean, standard deviation, Pearson correlation, t-test, and ANOVA. Findings showed high ratings for both the workplace environment (M = 4.17) and job satisfaction (M = 4.17), with a significant positive relationship, indicating that a better workplace environment was associated with higher job satisfaction. Communication received the highest rating among workplace environment dimensions, while relationships with co-workers received the highest rating among job satisfaction dimensions. Based on these findings, the APURA Program was proposed to strengthen leadership support, communication, professional growth, recognition, safety, and wellness, thereby enhancing job satisfaction and healthcare quality.
