Abstract
This study intends to qualitatively assess the challenges encountered by social studies Teachers in teaching Araling Panlipunan in DepEd Jagna District, Division of Bohol. The researcher employed a qualitative phenomenological research method, involving interviews with teachers to gather comprehensive, factual accounts of their lived experiences. A total of 12 teachers were purposively included and interviewed. Thematic Analysis was used to identify and interpret the data gathered from semi-structured interviews. The findings indicate that teachers encountered numerous challenges, particularly the need for instructional materials such as books and modules in their schools and limited access to technology. Based on the findings, the study recommends developing an action plan to address these challenges and improve the quality of teaching in Araling Panlipunan. The action plan could include providing more instructional materials and training for teachers on effectively using technology in the classroom. Moreover, it should also focus on promoting critical thinking skills among students to help them discern fake news and historical revisionism on online platforms. This study provides valuable insights for education policymakers and practitioners in developing strategies and interventions to address the challenges faced by social studies teachers in teaching Araling Panlipunan in the Jagna District and to improve the quality of teaching in the subject.
