Managing Global Partnerships: Influence of International Collaborations in Higher Education Institutions in Thailand

This study explored the influence of international collaboration practices among Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in Thailand, focusing on engagement, implementation, and institutional profile variables. It examined the relationship between profile variables and the implementation of international collaboration practices and identified significant predictors of successful internationalization. A quantitative research design utilizing a descriptive-correlational approach was employed, and data were collected from HEIs through survey questionnaires. Findings revealed that HEIs in Thailand demonstrated a high level of engagement in international collaboration practices, including research collaboration, mobility programs, international curricula, visiting professors, and joint and dual-degree programs. The study also found that institutional profile variables such as the type of institution, years of operation, number of foreign students, faculty members, and international partnerships were not significantly related to the implementation of international collaboration practices. However, the availability of internationalization-related policies, strategic planning, and administrative support significantly influenced the successful implementation of these practices. The study concluded that international collaboration remained an essential component of higher education internationalization in Thailand, contributing to academic excellence, global competitiveness, and institutional development. It further recommended strengthening institutional support systems, expanding international partnerships, and enhancing policy implementation to sustain and improve international collaboration initiatives among HEIs in Thailand.
